Stofko Joins Faculty

John Stofko, MPH, MBA has joined the faculty as associate professor in the department of pharmaceutical and health economics, effective August 16.

He is a healthcare industry executive with 30+ years of diverse experiences in biopharmaceutical clinical development, sales and marketing, commercial operations, healthcare consulting and executive leadership at Fortune 500 companies.

Most recently, he served as Chief Commercial Officer at a medical device start-up company as well as vice president, program management at Kite Pharma where he led program planning and management activities of cell therapy CAR-T and TCR pipeline programs through development and commercialization.

Prior to joining Kite, he served in leadership roles at Biogen, Inc. including vice president, chief of staff to the CEO and vice president, program leadership and management. His responsibilities included leadership of cross-functional program teams responsible for the clinical development, product life-cycle management, commercialization, and overall global asset strategy for late-stage neurology programs focused on Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis. He also served as life-cycle leader and led Biogen’s alliances with Abbvie, Eisai, and Genentech/Roche, including the antiCD20 programs in oncology, rheumatology, and neurology. Earlier in his career, he held general management, operations, and clinical positions at Baxter/Caremark International, and had faculty responsibilities at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

He holds a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from the University of Connecticut, a Master of Public Health degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Business Administration from Babson College.
