USC Mann welcomes on-site wellness counselor

January 23, 2023 — Veronica Acosta, LCSW has joined USC Mann as its first on-site wellness counselor, a newly-created, full-time position designed to provide direct, on-campus support to students across degree programs, as well as to collaborate with faculty, staff and other members of the extended USC Mann academic community.  

An MSW graduate of the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, Acosta is a licensed clinical social worker with six years of medical social work experience, most recently in the emergency department of St. Francis Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her scope of practice also includes conducting individual psychotherapy sessions in a private practice setting.

“We’re excited to welcome Veronica Acosta to the USC Mann community,” said Kari Franson, associate dean for academic and student affairs. “Building psychosocial resilience is a key to student success, and we look forward to the positive impact we’ll create by having her here.”
