Research Interest
Dr. Cupo Abbott's area of interest is infectious disease. Specifically, the optimal usage of newer antifungals and new antimicrobials directed against multi-drug resistant gram-positive organisms.
Biography
Jennifer Cupo Abbott is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy who has also practiced as a clinical pharmacist at USC University Hospital since 1993. In this capacity, she provides pharmaceutical care service to patients in the intensive care unit.
Dr. Cupo Abbott received a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1987 and received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Southern California in 1992. She completed a residency in Pharmacy Practice at LAC+USC Medical Center in 1993 and subsequently joined the faculty in late 1993.
As a member of the clinical faculty, Dr. Cupo Abbott is responsible for teaching clerkships in Acute Care Medicine, providing didactic lectures in the Microbiology and Antimicrobial Agents Courses, and for precepting residents on their Pulmonary Critical Care Rotation. Her professional affiliations include ASHP, CSHP (Southern California Chapter), ACCP, and AACP. Dr. Cupo Abbott serves on both hospital and university committees including: Infection Control Committee, Scholarship Standards Committee (USC) and the Executive Committee of the Pharmacy Faculty Assembly (USC-1997).
