Dr. Avetis (Avo) Karapetyan earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy. As a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist, Dr. Karapetyan's clinical expertise is in the areas of Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Stewardship. His current role as Antimicrobial Stewardship Program Coordinator at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center includes the supervision of a hospital wide, multi-disciplinary committee of physicians, infection preventionists, microbiologists, nursing leaders and clinical pharmacists working to promote the appropriate use of antimicrobials, improve clinical outcomes for patients, reduce microbial resistance and decrease the spread of infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms. Dr. Karapetyan is nationally certified in providing and implementing antimicrobial stewardship programs by the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists.
Dr. Karapetyan's passion for lifelong learning and dedication to teaching led him to his adjunct role as Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the USC School of Pharmacy, where he instructs an advanced practice learning experience in infectious diseases for fourth-year pharmacy students. He also coordinates the USC Post-Graduate Residency in Pharmacy Practice at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, a highly competitive and rigorous year of clinical training that builds upon the knowledge, skills, attitudes and abilities gained from a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
