Research Interest

Dr. Desai's area of expertise lies in managed-care pharmacy. She brings over 10 years of managed-care experience through a variety of previous experience in health plans, PBMs, employer groups and health care systems. She currently serves as the Director of the Clinical Authorization Center at USC Norris Cancer Hospital.

Biography

Dr. Desai received a Bachlors of Science in Physiological Sciences at UCLA in 1995 and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore. She then completed a specialty residency in managed-care pharmacy at CVS Caremark in Hunt Valley, Maryland. Dr. Desai relocated to Southern California in 2000 to work as a Clinical Pharmacy Manager at WellPoint Pharmacy Management where she managed the Blue Cross of California account. From 2003, Dr. Desai worked for CVS Caremark as a Clinical Account Pharmacist on the Western Region Employer and Governmental Group accounts until she started with USC in July 2007 as Assistant Professor at the USC School of Pharmacy.
